Bucharest has one of the lowest ratios of green space per capita in Europe but it also has a large green belt of lakes and marshes which are yet unexploited as a leisure area for its inhabitants. The project starts from the premise that small punctual interventions can have a radical effect on local natural environment perception. The pavilion located near one of the most beautiful green areas surrounding Bucharest, the Comana forest, uses this yet unexplored type of art practice to create a strong cultural brand for an area with high recreational potential.
Objectives:
– protect the area from unregulated urban development by raising awareness and respect for its qualities;
– creating a sustainable leisure site;
– enhance the relationship between urban art schools and the natural surroundings.
